What are Brown Spots?
Brown spots are areas of excess pigment that develop when melanin production becomes uneven. They may appear as sunspots, age spots, freckles, or hormonally driven pigmentation, such as melasma. While harmless from a medical standpoint, they can dramatically impact skin tone uniformity and overall facial brightness.
These spots form when ultraviolet exposure or inflammation triggers melanocytes to overproduce pigment in localized areas. Over time, those patches become more visible and more resistant to topical products alone. Effective treatment requires understanding not just what appears on the surface, but what’s happening beneath the skin.
